The Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) returns for its 28th edition from 23 November to 3 December 2017.

Founded in 1987, SGIFF is the largest and longest-running film event in Singapore. Known for its dynamic programming and focus on ground-breaking Asian independent cinema for Singapore and the region, it has become an iconic event in the local arts calendar that is widely attended by international film critics.

This year, film lovers can look forward to the 15th anniversary screening of local films I Not Stupid by Jack Neo, and Talking Cock by Colin Goh, together with special cast and crew reunions during the screenings. Winner of the Best Singapore Short Film at the Silver Screen Awards in 2016, Chiang Wei Liang, will present his festival-commissioned short film, Nyi Ma Lay. Its Classics section will also cast a spotlight on classic spy thrillers in Asia, in collaboration with Nanyang Technological University’s Wee Kim Wee School of Communications. Not to forget, there will also be masterclasses and dialogues with some of the attending filmmakers and cast, including award-winning Hong Kong film director Clara Law who emerged during the ‘Second Wave’ Hong Kong cinema at the same time as Wong Kar-wai and Indonesian filmmaker Mouly Surya who will present her latest feature and a Cannes title Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts at this year’s festival with its actress Marsha Timothy in attendance.

The SGIFF is organised by the Singapore International Film Festival Ltd, a non-profit organisation with Institution of Public Character (IPC) status.
