HERE ARE THE WINES FOR THE MONTH OF FEBURARY:
2004 Grand Cru Classe Wines
Montrose 2004 (2nd Growth 1855 Classification) – St Estephe
Duhart Milon 2004 (4th Growth 1855 Classification) – Pauilliac
Trotanoy 2004 – Pomerol
Le Croix De Gay 2004 – Pomerol
Saint Dominique 2004 – Puisseguin Saint-Émilion
Every wine lover craves for a Chateau Petrus – the juicy essence of Merlot – However not everyone can afford it due to its high prices. Fortunately we have a “Poor Man’s Petrus” – Trotanoy. Only Petrus wine maker Christian Moueix would dare to characterize this – “Trotanoy has long been in the shadow of Petrus”. Clearly one of the greats of Pomerol but how will it fair against its counterpart Le Croix de Gay and great 2nd growth and 4th growth wines of Medoc.
Duhart Milon is affectionately known to many as “Lafite’s little brother” as its vineyards are located just beside Lafite Rothschild and run by the Lafite’s team. Although overshadowed but its big brother, Duhart Milon has its own charms and reserved character of Pauillac’s appallation.
Chateau Montrose, first-growth quality from billionaire brothers’ second-growth estate, has produced two Robert Parker 100 pointer wines in 1990 and 2009. Often described as powerful, dense, firm, tannic and masculine is a great contender against Trotanoy
